Dark Cross (November 1992-January 1992)
A short-lived liason involving three former members of Lonesome Crow. It never really got off of the ground, simply because no common ground could really be found to establish a cohesive sound.
Off Axis #1 (February 1992-August 1992)
After the breakup of Lonesome Crow, Kelley Allison and Todd Sale had been in a short lived project (Dark Cross), and moved on to start another one. Off Axis was formed in late Winter of 1992, and was planned to be an AOR type of band originally, that would play covers mixed in with originals. Shane Spooner and Todd Sale had met through a mutual friend, and discoverd that they had a lot in common musically. They started to jam together, bouncing ideas off of one another, and soon Kelly Allison and Scott Taylor would complete the initial picture. The band had a hard time getting things together in a cohesive manner, and pesonnel problems would eventually dissolve this version of the band, with Scott bowing out.
Off Axis #2 (September 1992-October 1992)
Jack Burrows, an acquiantance and co-worker of Todd would step in to take the drums over from the departed Scott Taylor. Things still didn't gel very well, and by October, Kelley had decided to leave as well to pursue other interests.
Off Axis #3 (October 1992-April 1993)
Despite not having a vocalist, this was the first version of the band to finally achieve some success in writing songs. When Kelly departed, Dennis Stilwell joined in, and a guitar-oriented blues based hard-rock band got off of the ground. During this time many standards that the band would play would be written and perfected. 'Flying into the Sun,' 'Braindead,' and 'God Help Us' would start to take shape, along with Lonesome Crow standards 'Secret of the Years' and 'Victoria's Soliloquy'. Dennis also penned a most excellent track, "Raven Speak", that was great musically and lyrically. To top|1991|1993
